If you’re looking to get better at chess, there are many websites that can help you!
Here I’ll share 5 of them, each of which is unique in its own way.
1. Chess.com
This site is the best for playing games with players all around the globe. Ranging from amateurs to professionals, you can find almost everyone here!
This makes it easier to match up with players of your strength. Also, the interface is smooth which makes for an amazing playing experience.
Not only that, there are many useful chess lessons available here for beginners and intermediate players. You also can practice with the computer, hire coaches and learn from their study plans, and so much more!
2. Lichess
It offers similar features to chess.com. What makes it stand out is that it has almost no haters in the chess world. That’s because everything you find here is absolutely free! And they don’t run any ads either!
This means you can play online, learn from their lessons, and practice drills with a computer without paying a single dime!
3. ChessBase India
Chessbase India is founded by Sagar Shah and Amruta Mokal. They have single-handedly revolutionized Indian chess and have many fans all over the globe.
On their site (and their Youtube channel), you can find chess news and interviews with top chess players.
A fantastic website to keep up with the latest chess news and learn about the game from some of the top GMs.
4. ChessMood
Before sharing about this website, here’s a little disclaimer — I work as a part of their team, but what I’m sharing here is a completely independent opinion.
Founded in 2018 by GM Avetik Grigoryan, this website offers all the tools one needs to improve their chess, from video courses to articles to interactive webinars to a personalized training plan created by Grandmaster coaches to an engaged online community.
It’s a great resource for improving at chess, especially if you need a structured plan and have limited time to spend.
5. NextLevelChess
This is a blog run by GM Noel Studer. He started the blog in 2021, and within 3–4 months it gained a lot of traction!
What makes his blog popular is its simplicity and quality. It’s very easy to understand the ideas he puts forward, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an experienced professional!
